After-School Program Teacher

I Would Rather Be Reading and Collaborative for Teaching and Learning have received grant funding to provide after-school programming for families residing in the Russell neighborhood.


We are actively seeking applicants that are passionate about working with children, can put constructive feedback into action, and want to make a difference for students! After-school teachers will be responsible for teaching lessons in reading and math in a hands-on, project-based format. Lessons and materials are provided, as well as training for the position.


The program will be delivered in-person and CDC guidelines will be followed to ensure the health and safety of students and staff.

NTI Learning Hub Director- Park Hill community Center 

I Would Rather Be Reading is hosting an NTI enrichment camp at the Park Hill Community Center starting October 19th. This camp will serve up to 12 students every day to assist with completing NTI assignments, helping students create a check-list of things to do each week, and participating in scheduled enrichment activities e.g. yoga, cooking, dance, etc.


We are looking for an energetic, optimistic candidate as our SITE SUPERVISOR. Desired qualities include:

*experience working with children and families

*possesses organizational skills

*Proficient with Google Classroom, email, and Google Drive

*ability to create positive, working relationships with staff, families, and students

*past experience in a leadership role

*Hours: 4:00 - 7:00 PM Monday-Thursday

(12 hours/wk)

*Compensation: $15/hr


-Coordinating staff schedule and coverage via the approved sub list when needed

-parent liaison to coordinate signing up students and for any concerns/questions that arise

-checking students in each day (taking temperatures and recording attendance)

-keeping careful records of attendance and temperatures that IWRBR supervisors can access easily

-assigning students to their mentors each day

-collaborating with Director of Programming to ensure enrichment opportunities are scheduled and prepared for

-cleaning and sanitizing the spaces that students occupy after camp closes

NTI Student Motivator 


 IWRBR is hosting an NTI afternoon camp option for students and families residing in the Park Hill community.


This will be an opportunity for students to get help completing their NTI virtual work, engage in weekly enrichment activities e.g. yoga, cooking, dance, etc., and participate in social-emotional wellness activities.


Teacher to student ratios are kept low (1:3) to ensure that the CDC guidelines may be strictly followed to keep all staff and students safe and healthy. During the interview process, we will highlight our COVID-19 staying healthy at school measures with applicants.


At this point, there is not a determined date that students will return to in-person learning. IWRBR will continue to keep this camp operational as long as NTI continues. Therefore, we are looking for candidates that can work this position indefinitely. Teachers must be able to work the entire block of time.


Desired candidate qualities include:

*positive, student-centered attitude

*proficient with Google Classroom and Google Drive

*Compensation: $11/hr


-working with 3-4 students at a time to complete NTI assignments

-provide assistance with technology issues when they arise

-providing content explanation and support when a student is struggling with a concept

-communicating with the student's teacher if needed

-engaging in the weekly enrichment activities along with students

(NOTE: cell phones will not be permitted to be out around students)
