Lights on Main turns downtown into a sparkle-filled celebration of community, creativity, and compassion. Dozens of beautifully decorated trees light the way for families—and every sponsor helps power I Would Rather Be Reading’s year-round literacy and enrichment programs for kids.

About Lights on Main

Lights on Main is our holiday tree exhibition in the heart of downtown Louisville, hosted at the Frazier History Museum, created to bring people together and shine a light on what’s possible when a city invests in its kids. Each sponsored tree is a little love letter to Louisville—designed by local businesses, community organizations,  Louisville residents—and every dollar raised helps I Would Rather Be Reading deliver high-impact tutoring, social-emotional learning, and enrichment across our after-school and summer programs.

Why Your Sponsorship Matters

  • Fuel real outcomes: Your support strengthens literacy growth, boosts attendance, and expands enrichment for K–5 students.

  • Put kids at the center: Sponsorships underwrite materials, staff training, and family engagement—so every child feels seen and supported.

  • Lift the whole community: Festive trees bring joy downtown while funding the work that changes futures all year long.

Get Involved - How It Works

  1. Choose your level and reserve a tree.

  2. Pick a theme that reflects your brand, team, or cause.

  3. Decorate with your crew (or have our team assist).

  4. Shine bright downtown throughout the holiday season and celebrate with your community.

(Need help with décor or installation? We’ve got options—just ask.)

What Sponsors Receive (at every level)

  • A prominently placed tree with signage and logo recognition

  • Inclusion on our website and social posts

  • Impact updates showing how your support helps students

Ways to Get Involved

  • Sponsor a Tree: Rally your company, team, or friend group around a theme.

  • Honor a School or Educator: Dedicate a tree to the folks who make learning possible.

  • Volunteer: Help with setup, decorating, or family nights.

  • Give: Can’t sponsor a tree? A one-time gift still lights the way for our kids.
