Programming
At I Would Rather Be Reading, our after-school programs bring learning to life for K–5 students in schools and community centers across Louisville. We combine academic support with enriching experiences so children can grow both inside and outside the classroom.
Each afternoon, students receive small-group reading tutoring tailored to their needs, helping them build confidence and close skill gaps. Alongside academics, our programs emphasize social-emotional learning—teaching students how to manage emotions, build relationships, and solve problems.
This year, we are excited to introduce our Career Pathways Program, where students explore hobbies and interests connected to real-world careers. Through hands-on activities, guest speakers, and creative projects, children discover fields such as aviation, construction, sports, arts, finance, and agriculture. These experiences spark curiosity, expand possibilities, and help students imagine their future.
Beyond tutoring and career exploration, children participate in enrichment activities that encourage teamwork, creativity, and joy. From art and science projects to games and community-building, every day is designed to make learning meaningful and fun.
