Thanks to the generous support of our community and partners, IWRBR is excited to announce that we are moving forward with 3 of our originally planned 5 summer camps! These camps will provide vital support and enrichment during the two-week gap before JCPS Summer League programs begin:
🍳 Cooking Camp at Jacob Elementary, featuring partners like Sullivan University, Chef Rock, and KSU.
🌱 Agriculture Camp at Kerrick Elementary, in partnership with Farm Credit Mid-America.
⚽ Sports Camp at Shelby Park Community Center, in collaboration with Louisville City and Racing Foundation.
These camps are made possible by the support of our incredible sponsors: Shirley’s Way, Farm Credit Mid-America, Brown-Forman, Louisville Sports Commission’s Sports Fun(d), and the American Service Commission. Because of them, we're able to keep kids safe, engaged, and emotionally supported while combatting summer learning loss through our SEL-based curriculum presented in fun, hands-on ways.
While we’re thrilled to open enrollment for the full two weeks of programming, we are still actively working to enhance the quality and depth of enrichment we can provide. Our goal remains to offer the high-quality experiences our kids deserve.
Unfortunately, due to timing and federal funding setbacks, we are unable to offer the Orchestra Camp this summer. We value our partnership with the Louisville Orchestra and hope to resume it in the future—our kids truly love and benefit from this experience.
We are also still hopeful about launching the Aviation Camp, pending funding by the end of May. Our longtime partners at Equus Flight Academy are on standby to help us deliver another incredible experience—if we can secure the needed support in time.
We are beyond grateful for every dollar, partnership, and encouraging word. Everything we do is grounded in our belief that our children deserve joy, safety, advocacy, and opportunity. No matter what, this summer they will leave our camps knowing they matter, that we believe in them, and that they are worthy of thriving.
Together, we're making it happen—because they deserve it.
